Help with searching for clinical pictures and treatment measures

You are searching for a hospital suitable for treating a specific disease, a hospital that diagnoses a specific disease or a hospital that offers a specific treatment method.

1. Quick search: Full-text search via clinical pictures and treatment methods

In the full-text search, you can enter a layman's term for a clinical picture (e.g. "appendicitis") or a treatment method (e.g. "heart operation") and start the search by clicking on the "Search" field.

The result will display a selection of the areas in which your chosen clinical picture or treatment method occur. In the lower screen section, you can see the hospitals that treat your chosen disease or perform your chosen treatment in these areas. You can click on the area that interests you, thus further refining the search result. By using the "Extended search", you can narrow your search even further, down to the level of the three-digit ICD code or the four-digit OPS code. The result will then display the hospitals that have documented your chosen ICD or OPS code in their services data.

2. The structured search: Search according to areas/body diagram

In addition to the full-text search, you can also search incrementally by using predefined areas illustrated by a body diagram. Each stage of the search displays hospitals treating the diseases that occur in the selected area. Here again, you can use "Extended search" to narrow your search down to the three-digit ICD code or the four-digit OPS code.

3. Further search options: search for frequently treated diseases and catalogue search

Search for frequently treated diseases
Searching for frequently treated diseases allows you to search for all hospitals that treat a specific disease.

To perform this search, select a clinical picture from the list.

This will directly display the results list with all hospitals that treat your chosen disease. You can further narrow your search by selecting a hospital location.

Catalogue search for clinical picture (ICD)
In the Main category, select the diagnosis-related group to which your chosen clinical picture is allocated (e.g. "Neoplasms"). This immediately displays the "Search results list", which contains all hospitals treating this diagnosis-related group. You can then further narrow the search result by selecting the appropriate Subcategories (e.g. "Malignant neoplasms" and "Stomach cancer"). The following list of options shows you all the ICD codes containing your chosen clinical picture ("Stomach cancer"). Select the ICD code(s) (more than one item can be selected) according to which you want to search further. You start your search by clicking on one or more option boxes and on the "Search" field..

The search is conducted on all levels.

The result will show you the hospitals that have documented your chosen ICD code(s) in their services data.

Catalogue search for treatment methods (inpatient) (OPS)
In the Main category, select the section to which your chosen treatment method is allocated e.g. "Operations"). Once again, this will immediately display the "Search results list" containing all hospitals offering this treatment method. You can then further narrow the search result by selecting the appropriate groups in the Subcategories (e.g. "Eye operations", "Eyelid operations", "Eyelid tightening"). The following list of options shows you all OPS codes displaying your chosen treatment ("Eyelid tightening“). Select the OPS code(s) (more than one item can be selected) according to which you want to search further. You start your search by clicking on one or more option boxes and clicking on the "Search" field.

The result will show you the hospitals that have documented your chosen OPS code(s) in their services data, i.e. that provide the corresponding inpatient treatment.

Catalogue search by treatment method (outpatient) (OPS)
In the Main category, select the section to which your chosen treatment method is allocated (e.g.

The result will show you the hospitals that have documented your chosen OPS code(s) in their services data, i.e. that provide the corresponding outpatient treatment.

Please note that it is not possible to combine the catalogue search for clinical pictures with the search for treatment methods. You can search either for clinical pictures or for treatment methods.
