In the Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Diabetology, we diagnose and treat diseases across the entire spectrum of internal medicine, including internal intensive care. Our particular focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the digestive organs (gastroenterology, gastroenterological endoscopy, gastrointestinal oncology) and diabetes and its complications (diabetology, diabetic foot syndrome). Through a qualified team of physicians and nurses, and in close cooperation with other departments within the hospital, as well as external partners and referring hospitals, general practitioners, and specialists, we guarantee optimal care at all times.

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common diseases in Germany. It is currently estimated that approximately 7 million people in Germany have diabetes mellitus. However, the number of undiagnosed cases is likely high, as the disease often begins without symptoms.

The Bonn Community Hospital has been successfully providing care for people with diabetes for many years. A team of diabetologists, diabetes educators, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and wound care specialists, along with nurses and caregivers experienced in the care of diabetic patients, guarantees this. There is close communication and collaboration with the other departments of the hospital.

What we all have in common is the goal of providing people with diabetes the best possible support to manage their condition effectively in everyday life. Your personal goals and wishes are taken seriously and incorporated into your treatment plan. Thanks to our many years of experience in managing diabetes mellitus, we understand your challenges and do everything we can to help you lead a fulfilling life despite your condition. That's why we take the time to listen carefully and attentively, and treat you with empathy; because we want you to feel well cared for.

The success of our collaborative efforts is recognized by the German Diabetes Association (DDG) through our accreditation as a DDG Diabetes Center.
